‘Having a manager who ignores you is even more detrimental than having a manager who primarily focuses on your weaknesses. Perhaps most surprising is the degree to which having a manager who focuses on your strengths decreases the odds of your being miserable on the job. It appears that the epidemic of active disengagement we see in workplaces every day could be a curable disease…if we can help the people around us develop their strengths’
- Insightful thoughts from a well known management training guru.
If you were to play tennis with your partner, would you like
your partner to be superior or inferior to you?
If you want him to be slightly inferior to you, you will get
a daily ego boost but you will not learn anything new!
If on the other hand you would like your partner to be a better
competitor, you would have a better chance of improving your skill but unless
you focus on working on your skills you will soon get demoralized.
What if your partner understands the value of a good playing
partner and instead of simply deriving an ego boost would teach you some
techniques as well as give you words of encouragement, wouldn’t you love
playing with your partner everyday?
Now imagine you are the boss or the manager of a company and
are wondering
How would I ever make my team feel motivated and empowered?
How on earth will I get my employees to love me?
How would I ever become a great boss?
I’ve given you the secret to Employee Engagement, Motivation
and Delegating responsibilities.
My name is Chetan Pinto and I believe ‘training has the
power to change the world’. My experience tells me that a good trainer is one
who can assist with both cognitive and emotional/behavioural improvements
through simple and incremental positive habit changes. In other words the
training shouldn’t be too easy or difficult but incremental or what I like to
call the ‘+1 input’.
The training should ideally result in emotional/behavioral
and psychological attitude changes through activities carefully designed
towards unleashing curiosity and intrinsic motivation for long lasting positive
improvements.
I’ve been able to successfully train several teams and
individual get better at what they are doing by helping them identify their
strengths, relate it with their passion and give them the confidence to
actually accomplish the extraordinary things they always believed they were
capable of but never really tried for a lack of positive reinforcement!
My training philosophy is essentially about establishing
trust by -
Identifying what my trainees actually want to do- their
strengths, interests and passion
Understanding their fears and insecurities holding them back
from accomplishing their goals.
Designing positive habits that empower trainees to
confidently accomplish their goals and also as a guidance system to rely on
when they falter.
Some of my strategies include-
80/20 rule-
Identifying a few things trainees could do right away to bring about the
quickest change in the shortest possible time i.e unlocking empowerment!
Positive
Reinforcement- Helping employees cope with the stressful environment by
replacing negative behaviors with some positive ones- i.e Cognitive Behaviour Modification.
Helping them be more
creative, happy and funny and adopting a more relaxed and positive attitude
towards life. i.e. Workplace Delight!
I firmly believe a Google like employee engagement
atmosphere is can become a reality in any company with even a small budget if
the strategies I’ve suggested are properly implemented.
I can help implement the required changes by way of creating
or modifying the L&D/T&D process, impart training or develop courses
depending on the requirements of your company.
I’m available for some free speaking engagements as well. Find out more.
